Lighting in Spring Branch: what these houses actually want
Spring Branch is postwar single-storey houses with simple, low rooflines sitting beside new three-storey construction, often on adjacent lots. The low ranches light cleanly with a single front run. The new builds are tall and narrow with steep gables, and they want the vertical picked out rather than a horizontal line drawn across them.
Because Spring Branch is rebuilding house by house, two neighbouring homes can need completely different plans. We quote the house in front of us.
Some Spring Branch streets have guidelines and many do not. Tell us which yours is.
Why a roofer should be the one on your roof
Most light installers are not roofers. We are — we replace roofs across Spring Branch through the year.
That matters in three practical ways. First, attachment: seasonal roofline lights go on with clips chosen to suit the surface, not with fasteners driven through your shingles. Nothing is nailed, screwed or stapled into the roof. Second, assessment: we look at the shingles, the gutters and the fascia before we install anything, because we know what a roof in trouble looks like and we would rather find it in October than have you find it in a January leak. Third, access: two-storey and steep-slope work is what we do the rest of the year, and we are licensed and insured for it.
If we see something on your roof that concerns us while we are up there, we will tell you. There is no charge for that, and no obligation attached to it.
Lighting ideas for your Spring Branch home
A simple roofline can give a ranch home a complete look; taller gables can benefit from selective window accents. Add trees or bushes where they frame the entry.
Full-service holiday lighting, or a year-round outline
Our holiday service includes design, installation, in-season maintenance and takedown. Storage is included for leased lights; owners store their purchased lights. Choose your features and let us recommend a design, then approve a written scope and quote.
Explore holiday lighting or discuss permanent roofline lighting. Permanent lighting is quoted separately with its own hardware and service arrangements.
Planning access and timing
We check roof height, attachment surfaces, exterior power and side-yard access at your home.
If you have community guidelines, share them with your inquiry. We review applicable requirements for your project; we do not assume every home has the same rules.
What a package includes
Every seasonal package, whichever scope and whichever ownership you choose, includes the design consult and on-site measure, commercial-grade C9 bulbs and wire, lights custom-cut to your rooflines, professional installation on safe roof clips, service visits through the season, and January takedown. Holiday lighting packages start at $750, quoted as one lump sum after we have measured — never over the phone.
There are three scopes:
- Roofline — the main run: eaves and rakes, and the gutter line where it suits the house. The classic, and the right starting point for most homes.
- Roofline + Trees & Bushes — the roofline plus trunk wraps, canopy work and shrub and bed lighting, so the house sits in the light rather than floating above a dark yard.
- Full Estate — the whole elevation: roof, landscape, entry and approach, with the accents chosen alongside your designer.
Ridges and hips are an add-on, not part of the base roofline scope. We say that plainly because it is the single most common thing left out of a cheaper comparison quote. Window outlines, wreaths and garland, columns and porch, and walkway and driveway lighting are optional and separately quoted too — on a Full Estate plan they are included only when they are listed in your written quote.
You can lease the lights from us or buy them outright. Leased lights are stored by us between seasons and carry a lifetime warranty for as long as they are on your house; lights you own are stored by you and carry a 5-year warranty. Both terms cover the lights and the bulbs themselves — the product — not a workmanship warranty on the installation.

Questions, answered
Common questions
Do you light both the old ranches and the new builds in Spring Branch?
Yes, and they need different plans. A low ranch suits a single clean front run; a tall new build usually wants the gables picked out vertically.
Can you reach a three-storey Spring Branch house?
Yes. Two-storey and steep-slope work is routine for us, and we are licensed and insured for it.
Is the roof at risk from the install?
No. We use clips rather than fasteners driven through the roof surface, and we assess the shingles, gutters and fascia first.
How long does an install take?
It depends on the scope and the access, both of which we check on the site visit before quoting.
Free, no-pressure
