Houston · Holiday & Permanent Lighting

Exterior lighting, designed around your home.

Elegant holiday displays. Permanent lighting for every season. Custom design and commercial-grade LEDs for Houston homes, installed by crews who understand your roof.

  • Custom Design · Considered around your architecture
  • Careful Installation · Respect for rooflines and finishes
  • Installed by Roofers · We are on rooflines daily

The short answer

Who installs Christmas lights in Houston?

Handyhands installs holiday and permanent roofline lighting across Houston, and we are roofers first. That matters on the roof: we use non-penetrating clips, so nothing is nailed, screwed or stapled through your shingles. Holiday lighting packages start at $750, quoted after we measure your roofline.

Wreaths, garland — and the approach.

Wreaths on the upstairs windows and garland spiralled up the columns — that is one option. The stakes lighting the walk and the drive are a separate one. Together they carry the eye from the curb to the front door.

Warranty on lights & bulbs

Lifetime

On leased lights, for as long as they are on your house. Buy them outright and the term is 5 years.

Both terms cover the lights and bulbs themselves — the product, not a workmanship warranty on the installation. The install is a service we stand behind through the season, and permanent soffit track carries our separate 2-year workmanship term on non-roofing trades.

The look

What it looks like on a house.

Illustrations

Four scopes, drawn out so you can see what you are choosing between. These are illustrations of the work rather than photographs of our own installs — when you book, we measure your roofline and show you what yours will look like.

A white board-and-batten farmhouse at dusk with warm white bulbs along every gable and the porch roof, a red-bowed wreath on the front door and lit trees in pots along the porch
Roofline · Wreaths & garland Every gable and the porch roof followed in warm white, a wreath on the door, and the front beds uplit.
A stone and timber home at dusk, warm white bulbs tracing a complex run of gables and dormers, with garland over the entry arch and lit conifers in the beds
Roofline · Ridges & hips A complicated roofline is the one that pays off most — every gable and rake picked out, with the ridges and hips added on top.
A single-storey stone home at dusk with warm white bulbs along the rooflines and above the garage bays, lit potted trees either side of the doors and uplit shrubs
Roofline · Trees & bushes Lower rooflines and garage bays, with the beds and potted trees lit to fill the front.
A stone home against a pink sunset sky, warm white bulbs along every gable, ornamental trees wrapped trunk to canopy either side of the driveway and uplit planting beds
Trees & bushes · Walkway & driveway Trunks and canopies wrapped either side of the drive, with the beds and the approach staked out — this is what stops the house floating above a dark yard.

Packages

Pick how far the light travels.

Three scopes, and one lump-sum price for whichever you choose — quoted after we have measured your actual rooflines, never before. Every package includes the same care; the difference is how much of the property it reaches.

01

Roofline

The main run — eaves and rakes, the outline everyone sees from the street. The classic, and the right starting point for most houses.

Your lump sum comes after we measure.

  • Eaves and rakes
  • Gutter line where it suits the house

Ridges and hips are an add-on, not part of the base roofline. Ask and we will price them in.

02

Roofline + Trees & Bushes

The roofline plus the landscape around it, so the house sits in the light rather than floating above a dark yard.

Your lump sum comes after we measure.

  • Everything in Roofline
  • Tree trunk and canopy wraps
  • Shrub and bed lighting

Ridges and hips remain an add-on at this scope too.

03

Full Estate

The whole elevation — roof, landscape, entry and approach. For homes where the front of the house is the whole point.

Your lump sum comes after we measure.

  • Roofline + Trees & Bushes as the starting scope
  • Choose entry, porch and approach accents with your designer

Optional, separately quoted: ridges & hips, window outlines, wreaths & garland, columns & porch, walkway & driveway. Full Estate is a custom plan; these features are included only when listed in your written quote.

In every package

  • Design consult and on-site measure
  • Commercial-grade C9 bulbs and wire
  • Lights custom-cut to your rooflines
  • Professional install on safe roof clips
  • Service visits through the season
  • January takedown

Then: lease the lights, or own them.

Choose the same scope with leased or owned lights. Storage and product coverage depend on that choice.

What we recommend

Lease the lights

Costs a little less up front, and the lights stay ours — which is precisely why it is the option we stand behind hardest.

  • We supply the commercial-grade lights
  • Cut to your rooflines — and re-cut and refitted for your house every year
  • We store them between seasons, so nothing lives in your garage
  • They never leave our care, so we can stand behind the install and the lights together
  • Next year is a phone call, not a project

Own the lights

A little more up front, and the lights are yours to keep. Available on any of the three scopes — we will not talk you out of it, but we will be straight about the trade.

  • The lights are yours after the first install
  • Cut to your rooflines the year we install them
  • You store them between seasons
  • We stand behind our installation; what happens to the lights in storage is out of our hands

If you would rather own something

Prefer lighting that stays up year-round?

Seasonal lights you own spend eleven months a year in a box, and they have to be re-fitted every time the house or the strand changes. If owning is what you want, soffit track is the better thing to own: it is mounted once, it works every night of the year rather than six weeks of it, there is nothing to store, and it carries our 2-year workmanship term on non-roofing trades.

What we install

A beautiful display starts with the details.

Commercial-grade C9

Commercial-grade LEDs and weather-rated connectors, with warm-white lighting that brings definition to your rooflines and a consistent look to your display.

Safe roof clips

Attachment selected for your roof and gutter edges. Our crews assess the surface and use appropriate clips, with clean wire routing and respect for surrounding finishes.

Soffit-mounted track

For permanent lighting, the track goes up inside the soffit rather than on the fascia face or the roof plane. Hidden in daylight, and no penetrations in the roof itself.

Why a roofer

We understand your roof before we touch it.

Look at where this work actually happens: the edge of your shingle course, your gutter lip, your fascia, the underside of your eave. That is the drainage and ventilation edge of a roof — the few inches where water is supposed to leave and air is supposed to get in.

High rooflines are familiar work for our crews. We assess access, choose proper attachment points and route wires carefully, with respect for shingles, gutters, fascia, masonry and the landscaping below.

Permanent track goes up inside the soffit, and that is where it gets interesting. Your soffit is also where your intake ventilation lives. Block it and you starve the airflow that keeps your attic — and the shingles above it — from cooking through a Houston summer.

We work with intake and exhaust ventilation throughout the year. That experience informs how we position permanent track, keeping ventilation clear as we plan the lighting around your eaves.

Where we work

Houston neighborhoods.
Lighting with a sense of place.

Our first focus: Memorial, River Oaks, Tanglewood, West University, Bellaire, Briargrove and The Woodlands. Your architecture, setbacks and tree canopy shape the design.

Memorial & Memorial Villages

Long rooflines, mature trees and generous setbacks reward a restrained outline, balanced tree lighting and a clearly lit entry.

River Oaks & Tanglewood

Layered gables, masonry facades and formal entries suit carefully separated roofline, ridge and window accents.

West University & Bellaire

On closer street frontages, warm-white window outlines and porch details create a complete display without overwhelming the home.

The Woodlands

Wooded lots call for selective trunk wraps, visible walkways and lighting that complements the surrounding canopy.

Not on the list? That's where we've written pages, not the limit of where we work — call and ask.

We already roof across these streets — see our roofing work in River Oaks, Memorial, Bellaire and The Heights.

Questions, answered

Before you call

Who owns the lights?

Choose leased or owned seasonal lights. We store leased lights; owners store purchased lights. Both include installation, in-season service and takedown. We confirm renewal scope and pricing before the next season.

What coverage comes with lighting?

Lifetime on leased lights · 5 years if you own them. Both terms cover the lights and bulbs themselves — the product, not a workmanship warranty on the installation. The install is a service we stand behind through the season, and permanent soffit track carries our separate 2-year workmanship term on non-roofing trades.

Will the clips damage my roof?

We choose clips suited to the attachment surface and assess shingles, gutters and fascia before installation. Seasonal roofline lights use clips instead of fasteners driven through the roof surface.

Seasonal or permanent?

Seasonal C9 gives you a traditional holiday display with takedown after the season. Permanent lighting stays mounted for everyday evenings and occasions. It is quoted separately and may need maintenance or repairs over time.

How much does holiday lighting cost?

Holiday lighting packages start at $750. 15% off any holiday lighting installation booked and installed before Thanksgiving. Your written quote confirms the measured scope and ownership arrangement.

Do you install customer-owned lights?

Our full-service offer uses lighting we supply. If you already own lights, mention that in your request so we can confirm whether your project is a fit.

What happens if a light goes out?

Call or text us and describe the affected area. We arrange service with weather and safe access in mind.

Can you install before Thanksgiving?

Request a pre-Thanksgiving installation in the form. Availability is confirmed before you book.

What happens in rain or bad weather?

We reschedule when conditions make roof access or electrical work unsafe, and coordinate the revised timing with you.

Can you light trees, wreaths, windows and walkways?

Yes. Select any combination in Build It Up, or choose Design it for me.

Do you offer warm white lighting?

Yes. Warm white is the starting point for our architectural designs. Tell us if you have another palette in mind.

How does year-two pricing work?

Renewal depends on your agreed ownership arrangement, display scope and any design changes. We confirm the next season’s price before you renew; no automatic savings are assumed.

Do you work with HOA restrictions?

Share your HOA guidelines, approved colors and installation or removal dates. We plan around the restrictions you provide.

Do I need an exterior power outlet?

Tell us about available exterior outlets. We assess suitable power, timers and load distribution before installation and identify any electrical work needed.
